I have a type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called Slow Lymphocytic Lymphoma, which is non-aggressive but incurable. I’ve had IV chemo twice; now I am on a daily pill in this my third go-around. I have to have periodic bloodwork and scans for the rest of my life. I have been seeing Dr. Eric Safyan at UPMC Mercy since 2010. I am confident with him and I am comfortable with him. Plus his staff always responds when I need anything. But because I have Highmark insurance, effective July 1 of this year, I have to find a new oncologist in the AHN system. This is extremely troublesome, inconvenient and unconscionable. And I have heard multiple stories about what a nightmare it is converting from UPMC doctors to AHN doctors. Any efforts made by your group, Chelsa Wagner and/or anyone else on the behalf of myself and others in the same predicament would be GREATLY appreciated.
