Todd’s Story

In July 2017 I was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident resulting in a Traumatic Brain Injury. I was taken to a trauma center in Youngstown, Ohio where I was treated and kept alive, but while at the facility I also contracted MRSA. Being from Mercer County, Pa., and having a UPMC family physician, my wife got me back into the UPMC system where my life was saved at UPMC Presbyterian after additional surgeries were performed to remove the infection and dead bones in my skull. Artificial bones were then placed in March, and I’ve been healing since. On my last visit, I was informed that before my next scheduled visit that I would not be covered, even under continuation of care.

I am very happy with UPMC and I don’t think that it’s right that I’m forced to move because I have Highmark insurance.
